Welltaro is the protagonist of Downwell — the playable character, who climbs into a well wearing his Gunboots.

He starts every run with 4 hp (6 in Boulder Style), 8 charges and the Machinegun. Depending on style he descends while standing on his hands, levitating, hauling a boulder or spinning his arms.

  • The name "Welltaro" never appears in the game itself; developer Ojiro Fumoto supplied it for the character's guest appearance in Indie Pogo.
