Gems are the currency of the well, dropped by dead enemies, red-tinged breakable blocks and gem veins. Small gems are worth 2G and large ones 10G. Uncollected gems disappear after a few seconds.

Gems are spent in the Shop, and your lifetime total also unlocks palettes and styles. Collecting 100 gems in a short window triggers the Gem High state, temporarily powering up your weapon.

Gems sink more slowly in the Aquifer and Limbo. The Gem Attractor upgrade doubles the radius from which they fly to you; Gem Powered recharges the Gunboots on collection; Popping Gems fires an upward shot per gem collected.
