Charge
Charge is the ammunition of the Gunboots, shown as a row of blocks in the HUD. Every run starts with 8 charges; firing consumes an amount that depends on the current weapon, and the meter refills completely when you land, stomp an enemy, or bounce off a doodad (or collect gems, with the Gem Powered upgrade).
A weapon fires as long as at least one shot's worth of charge remains — with 8 charges and a Shotgun (5 per shot), the leftover 3 still buy you one final blast.

The HUD groups the charge blocks to match the current weapon's cost — in fours for the Laser, in fives for the Shotgun, and so on.
Increasing max charge
- Battery-type gun modules give +2 max charge on pickup.
- The Battery, Energy Drink and Car Battery shop items raise it permanently.
- A 15-kill combo or better gives +1.
- The Tomato gives +10.
